CITB Nomination: Michelle Tucker

Find out more about Michelle Tucker, one of our nominees for the CITB 100 Most Influential Women in Construction Awards
We're delighted to be sharing more information about our nominees for this year's CITB 100 Most Influential Women in Construction Awards ahead of the shortlist being announced very soon - and today, we wanted to shine a light on the great achievements and work being done by our very own Michelle Tucker, our nominee within the 'Most Influential Educator' category.
Michelle Tucker joined the Champion Groundworks team 11 years ago as a SHEQ Administrator, working amongst a small Health & Safety team with a focus on improving site safety across a variety of groundworks projects. As part of this role, Michelle was responsible for managing our existing 'Training Matrix' and booking external third-party training for our teams. Safe to say it didn't take long before, utilising her existing skills as an educator, and her drive and enthusiasm for continued improvement, Michelle began delivering tailored training courses to the Champion Groundworks team as an in-house trainer. This was a key step in Michelle's journey within our business which subsequently paved the way for her current exponential success and influence as an educator within the sector (and beyond!).
It is somewhat difficult to highlight just one or two examples of where Michelle has achieved, and where she's had to overcome obstacles. In all honesty, Michelle's achievements are vast (check out her timeline of achievements below for more information). Michelle is extremely dedicated and motivated when it comes to education and there is never a time where Michelle doesn't go above and beyond - in fact, you might say it's her default setting. In reflection of this approach, Michelle herself said 'I wouldn't train anyone on anything I'm not qualified to do myself'. This is an unnecessary requirement within her role, but one that she lives by. This makes Michelle a very unique educator, who is highly skilled both within her field of training - but also ensures she can identify with and relate to workers in the field of construction, in a way that many third-party trainers cannot. This steadfast focus on understanding those who need her support as a teacher, along with her sheer grit and determination in the face of challenges, is absolutely what defines Michelle as a force to be reckoned with and a powerhouse of influence in education within the industry.
We consider ourselves very lucky to have such an inspirational woman at the forefront of education and construction within our team. We're extremely excited to see Michelle's role develop into now being able to positively impact a broader range of people within the industry, and across the region as a Director at the helm of recently launched Champion Training Solutions.
We'd like to wish Michelle all the very best of luck for her nomination, the entire Champion Groundworks team is behind you!
