Project Update: Norden Meadows, Kingsbridge
We've completed our initial 33-week principal contractor period on this exciting project for Baker Estates.
Champion Groundworks is pleased to share the successful completion of our 33-week Principal Contractor period at Norden Meadows, an exciting new residential development in Kingsbridge, Devon, being delivered by our valued client, Baker Estates.
Located in the heart of the South Hams, Norden Meadows will provide a high-quality collection of 2, 3, 4 and 5-bedroom homes, alongside a selection of 2-bedroom apartments. The development will contribute much-needed new housing within one of Devon's most sought-after market towns, while complementing the character of the surrounding area.
Since commencing work on site last year, our team has delivered a significant package of infrastructure and enabling works to prepare the development for future construction phases.
As Principal Contractor, we successfully managed and coordinated the site operations throughout this phase of the project, prioritising safety, quality and programme performance at every stage.
A key element of the works involved the installation of all on-site adopted drainage infrastructure. This included 127 metres of directionally drilled drainage installed beneath an existing laneway, allowing critical drainage connections to be completed while minimising disruption to the surrounding area.
Alongside the drainage package, our team completed the construction of all roads within the development, delivered the client compound and sales area, and constructed more than 100 metres of reinforced concrete retaining walls to support the site's infrastructure requirements.
The wider scope of works at Norden Meadows includes:
- Site-wide earthworks
- All plots and associated infrastructure for 51 residential units
- 150 metres of directional drilling
- 2,905m² of adopted roads
- 800 metres of adopted drainage
- Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) Geo-lite tank installation
- 450 metres of reinforced concrete and gabion retaining walls throughout the development
The successful completion of this phase reflects the hard work, expertise and commitment of everyone involved in the project. From our site teams and management staff to our supply chain partners, every individual has played an important role in achieving this milestone.
